The Parade

We arose bright (actually dark) and early to catch our 6:30 am charter bus ride from the Downey Senior Center to Pasadena for the Tournament of Roses Parade.  The bus arrived just behind our bleacher seats at 7:30 am and we were in our seats a few minutes later.  The assigned seating was tight in the bleachers but the view was very good.  We were positioned roughly a third of the way down the 5.5 mile parade route on the south side of Colorado Blvd. between Oakland and Madison streets.

There were two bleachers directly across the street filled almost exclusively with green and white clad MSU fans. They enjoyed chants such as "Go Green / Go White" and they tried to start the "Wave" with minimal success.

The view across the street allowed us to enjoy the beautiful mountains (below) off in the distance north of Pasadena.

The city of Downey float (below), which we worked on Monday night, looked magnificent.  The float was towed almost 20 miles at a speed of 5 mph from Downey to Pasadena on New Years Eve.  It was awarded the Founders Trophy.

The City of South Pasadena "Intergalactic Vacations" float was pulling a cute camping trailer similar to those we remember from camping days in our youth.

We won't bore you with the other 90 pictures of the parade we took!  Getting away from Pasadena proved more challenging or time consuming than getting to the parade.  We arrived home in time to watch the entire Rose Bowl football game.  Go Spartans!!!

Later we played cards with Aunt Marge and her boyfriend Roy shown below.
